1965 Austin Healey 3000 Mk III Phase 2
Originally dispatched from Abingdon on 26th October 1965, This Austin Healey 3000 Mk III chassis H-BJ8-L/ 35133 was exported to Kenosha Wisconsin USA. The Heritage certificate supplied with the car shows the vehicle to have originally been British racing green with black interior. In 1997 the car was returned to the UK by a vehicle dealer and fully restored in his workshops. The car was completely stripped and rebuilt using all new parts as required. At this point the car was converted to RHD and painted its current colour of Colorado Red. A full photographic record of the build is included in the cars history file. The restoration took over 10 years to complete. Once completed the vehicle was used sparingly and spent most of its time in the owners showroom. It was sold to the current owner in 2011 who has since commissioned JME to maintain the vehicle. The car is now being advertised and sold on behalf of the current owner
During the cars full restoration it was repainted in its current colour scheme of Colorado red with black interior. This final and most powerful incarnation of the Big Healey is very much in standard specification but has had a full lead free conversion, and is fitted with uprated fuel pump, additional electric cooling fan, electronic ignition, overdrive and seatbelts.
This a structurally superb car with excellent panel gaps and fitted with its original outer body work. Restored interior with correct vinyl seats and dashboard. The engine has excellent oil pressure hot or cold, runs smoothly and does not overheat. the gearbox syncros are excellent and the overdrive engages smoothly. Running on Original 2 SU carbs. A hardly used and well looked after, the car has mainly been used for long journeys to Cornwall and the South Coast.
