Daimler Conquest – Stunningly Original Example
The Daimler Conquest was produced by the Daimler Company Ltd between 1953 and 1958. The car was targeted squarely at the upper class/ chauffer driven sector – for example, the driver’s door has no external lock, this is on the passenger door for the driver to use once the passengers have been let out of the rear doors.
Milestones are delighted to bring to market this lovely Conquest that has clearly led a cossetted life over the course of her 62 years. The body work is in outstanding condition with just the minor blemish commensurate with age and sparing use in recent years. Mechanically the car drives extremely well with super smooth straight six engine and the Wilson pre-select gearbox performs without fault.
Recently the car has had a new battery, tyres, headlamps, ignition components from Distributor Doctor and the current MOT is to July 2019. For safety reasons the semaphore indicators work in conjunction with flashing lamps front and rear - a nice touch
The interior is like stepping back in time – we can just imagine the Conquest ferrying the gentry to the local hunt back in the 1950’s. The leather seats, oxford cloth roof lining and Wilton carpets are all original with a superb patina that we just love to see in our cars. The front and rear window rubbers have been replaced
The history folder stretches back to 1968 when the car was serviced every few hundred miles and then, from the early 1980’s, she spent a period of time in storage. Used regularly for classic car shows and day trips in recent years the car has covered just 76, 000 miles from new and is very capable on modern roads.
The Conquest is a lovely example of the marque and we urge a test drive in order to fully appreciate the merits of this gentlemen’s express.
