This is an early 1974 model year production car, number 1140 stamped on the original British Leyland identification plate located on the off side front inner wing. Matching chassis no GD201-1140G & engine no -1018. The last owner since 1984 (34 years) & only two former keepers.
The car has been dry stored & unused in the last 10 years. Prior to that was used sparingly as a weekend car. We have invoices for parts including a comprehensive list of body parts, panels etc. Also to hand we have the original MGB GT V8 drivers hand book & sales brochure. We have inspected the car underneath & all the usual areas including the sills, jacking points, floor pans, boot floor, wheel arches, inner wings, chassis etc are absolutely solid & show no signs of welding, rust or repairs. The original V8 alloys are excellent as is the interior inc carpets, original seats, door cards & headlining etc. The under bonnet retains all original fitments ie carburetors & cast manifolds.
The car would benefit from some paintwork mainly to the bonnet & tops of front wings due to micro blistering although the remainder of the paintwork is excellent.
We had the vehicle collected by transporter from the garage where it resided for the last 10 years. We had the fuel, & oil drained & re filled with new & the carburetors fully overhauled. We also had the front brake calipers freed off & the rear brakes serviced with new wheel cylinders & the whole system bled with new brake fluid.
The engine runs perfectly with excellent oil pressure although th clutch is stuck due to having been stood.
According to DVLA only 600 genuine MGB GT V8's survive out of a total of 2500 originally built.
In summary this is a very genuine original example with lovely provenance requiring light remedial works to bring up to a very good standard & fabulous car. We have taken these factors into consideration & priced it at a very reasonable figure. With some time this car could easily achieve far more as can be seen from the very few available on the market.
We have an indoor ramp in a dry, warm well lit garage availble for any inspection.
