Beschreibung
This is a 1973 Thundersley Invacar Model 70 invalid carriage. Designed by AC, the Model 70 was built by both AC and Thundersley Invacar. This is one of the earliest (believed to be the 3rd oldest known example) manufactured by Thundersley Invacar in Essex.
It is an iconic piece of British motoring and social history, and also one of the extremely lucky few to have escaped the 2003 government recall and subsequent scrap man.
A genuine survivor that's been sympathetically renovated by me with correct parts rather than restored to retain its incredibly authentic, original condition and patina - it could easily be fully restored, but has more character and is museum quality as it stands.
All three original 12 inch wheels blasted and powder coated with brand new Michelin tyres. Correct original hub caps were sourced from the original manufacturer.
Genuine refurbished original Weber carb fitted, engine fully serviced and tuned. Engine also cosmetically refreshed with correct new parts, as well as new fuel lines and new battery. New speedo cable custom made and fitted.
Good running order and fully road legal. The V5 in my name with its original registration (with period correct raised letter number plates) and even the original pair of keys. Only local miles since it passed an MOT in 2017 (now MOT and tax exempt). NOTE: These are NOT illegal on UK roads as urban myth may suggest.
Comes with copy of original factory workshop manual and a small selection of NOS and used spares that I have collected.
This actual car has been featured in a short BBC documentary film, see: - details above
It also appears in the January 2019 issue of Classic & Sports Car magazine.
