Classic Classics are delighted to offer for sale this genuine 1979 MK2 Ford Escort RS2000 Group N rally car.
This classic is finished in a striking Signal yellow. It rides on new period 13” Minilite alloys which are fitted with new road legal trackday tyres. It’s also fitted with two Corbeau bucket seats that have the four point harnesses, and a six point welded in roll cage.
This MK2 Ford Escort is powered by the legendary 2. 0 Pinto engine, which has twin 45 Webbers producing approx. 170BHP and is married to a 4 speed close ratio quick shift gearbox. It also has a freshly built 4. 1 English LSD diff. It has a World cup cross member with twin anti roll bar mounts, single leaf lowered rear springs, new wheel bearings and a quick rack. We have also fitted a new Alloy fuel tank with the fuel filler in the boot, and full Airquip pipes and bias adjustable pedal box.
It has recently undergone light recommissioning, so is ready to be used and enjoyed in various events.
This car is an absolute classic of its time. It’s such an iconic make and model, and with its ever increasing popularity, there are many clubs and rallies that would be suitable for you to get the most out of it.
The MK2 Ford Escort RS2000 in general had a hugely successful rally career. At the time they were seen as “highly specialised machines”, and were achieving great results worldwide, including the World Rally Championship drivers cup.
