CCA CONDITION REPORT

A bare-metal respray was undertaken at the restoration in 2017 by CBR motor bodies in 2-pack direct gloss. Any rot was cut out of the car before being repaired with replacement panels including new front wings, scuttle ends, front panel, apron panels, bonnet and sills - all panels were the best quality available. The chrome work is all new, too, and underneath the car benefits from having been coated in Rustbuster's Tech Shield underbody wax.

Brand new Cobra low-back bucket seats sit atop a new carpet set which in turn is laid on copious amounts of Dynamite sound deadening. The speedometer and centre binnacle is brand new as are the dash cards. The headlining is the original and would benefit from replacement if perfection is desired.

Mechanically, the engine is in great condition. It was stripped and assessed at restoration in 2017 and replacement gaskets and seals fitted as required. During the restoration, I discovered that a lot of engine work had been done by Rutland Minis who told me they had been instructed to prepare the engine for its previous owner's planned trip to Mongolia in the car. The head has had a lot of work, but there was no bore wear evident with it removed. At restoration, it was fitted with a Stage 1 performance-package including gas-flowed inlet manifold and LCB Maniflow exhaust manifold and big bore system. Aesthetically, it has received several coats of MOWOG green engine enamel to give the aesthetic appearance of an older engine, as fitted to the original Bean car.

New bushes and mounting bobbins in the remote change linkage generate a positive driving experience and the transmission itself performs well without any nasty noises or jolts.

All new suspension arms and pins fitted to the subframes which were both fully stripped and rebuilt away from the car. Brakes are all new and the car benefits from having brand new Cooper discs and callipers fitted at the front to provide excellent braking performance while still allowing for the fitting of 10" wheels. Polyurethane bushes have been used throughout as have braided brake lines and conifer pipes filled with silicone DOT 5 fluid. Brand new period correct tyres were fitted at restoration in November 2017 and have covered very little mileage since. Overall, the whole running gear is either brand new or in excellent condition

Brand new wiring loom fitted in November 2017 along with new gauges and speedometer whilst carrying out the centre dash conversion. A new alternator was also fitted during the restoration as was a new battery.

No service history is present with the car, but a number of PDFs of articles published about the car from Practical Classics Magazine will be included.
