This rare single year Right Hand Drive (RHD) 911E 2. 4 MFI is in perfect concours condition, it has always been garaged during the present long term ownership and driven sparingly, it lives in a lovely heated polished tiled garage on view from the owners house. It has gradually been converted to look like a 2. 7 RS Touring, the running gear is all 2. 4 E including the correct Green mechanical fuel injected engine so it could be put back to original if one preferred, we can quote for this to be done after the completion of the sale. The main cosmetic changes are the front lower valance, engine cover with ducktail spoiler, flared rear wheel arches with wider rear Fuchs staggered polished alloy wheels and Carrera RS decals in black. Everything has been restored to a high standard with every panel fitting with great precision, the doors close with a solid thud, one will struggle to find any blemishes internally or externally, even the engine bay is immaculate with chromed air filters (originals included). The owner has even had the seat frames painted and the original Kangol seat belt brackets rechromed. This Evocation even has the rare chrome and rubber bumpers as per the RS Touring, most recreations just use insulation tape. Detailed invoices, photographs and a restoration hardback book are included.

These 70’s rear engine air cooled 911’s are getting very rare now, especially in this immaculate condition and specification, it would be worth around £130, 000 as an original 911 2. 4 E Oel Klappe and around £600, 000 as an original 911 2. 7 RS Touring. It drives superbly with the engine emits a lovely rasp at higher revs from the stainless steel exhaust system, the recovered leather seats are extremely comfortable and the interior still emits the high end leather new car smell. Electric front windows and central locking was installed at the factory from new and the owner has also now added an immobiliser, alarm and remote central locking as well as a very expensive modern in car entertainment system with U. S. B. A number of spares and accessories are available, included in the sale is the original rare Oil Flap Door the 2. 4 Badge for the engine cover. Everything has been restored to better than new condition, a true labour of love, the leather steering wheel is however still original.

The 911 models from 1968-1973 are probably the prettiest cars Porsche have ever produced and iconic status was sealed when Steve McQueen used his road car for the opening scene of the film Le Mans in 1971.

For 1972 the 2. 4 Litre 911’s had power and torque increases which lead to the newer and stronger transmission, identified by its Porsche type number 915. Derived from the transmission in the Porsche 908 race car, the 915 did away with earlier transmission's "dog-leg" style first gear arrangement, opting for a traditional H pattern with first gear up to the left, second gear underneath first, etc. Some say this was because the dog-leg shift to second gear was inconvenient for city driving, others say it was due to Porsche’s desire to put 5th gear outside the main transmission housing where it could easily be changed for different ratios. The unique single year Oil Flap (Oel Klappe) was introduced to bring some of the weight forwards to aid handling, the oil tank was moved forwards from behind the right rear wheel to in front of it. This had the effect of moving the weight of almost 8. 5 Litres of oil from outside the wheelbase to inside, improving weight distribution and thus, handling. To facilitate filling of the oil tank, Porsche installed an oil filler door (much like the fuel filler door on the left front wing) on the right rear quarter panel. Unfortunately, this unique design was scrapped after only one year, some say because inattentive fuel station attendants were putting petrol in the oil tank, especially on RHD examples.

This Motor Car can be viewed by prior appointment near Sleaford in Lincolnshire, with good access from the A1 / A17 Roads and various Railway Stations with access to the main London to Edinburgh railway line. It is sadly for sale due to a sudden change in the owners circumstances, we have a recent Porsche Club GB valuation for £90, 000. We have recently driven this around 400 miles including to the recent Porsche Club G. B. Concours event at Chatsworth House and we displayed it on the club stand at the Silverstone Classic. This example is ready to be driven anywhere or put in a museum, it would ideally be purchased by an owner of an original RS who is now too scared to drive their car due to the high value, this faithful evocation offers a great opportunity to experience the driving thrill and looks of the original car at a fraction of the cost.

Price £79, 500 o. n. o.
