This superb Lupo GTI has just arrived with us from the car friendly climate of Japan and is now UK registered.
It is finished in bright red with grey cloth sports trim and has covered 125600 kms (77800 miles) from new at the time of writing. It was built in August 2004 and was supplied new to the Japanese market and is a 2005 model year car.
These pint sized GTI's use a 1600cc twin cam engine that produces 123 bhp in a car that weighs just over 900 kgs thanks to the use of aluminium panels for the doors, bonnet and front wings. Thinner gauge glass is also used to help keep the weight down. For better weight distribution the battery on the GTI is re-located to the boot with the result that the GTI uses a different boot floor panel compared with the regular Lupo, another key difference is the GTI has a wider track than the standard car. Acceleration never drops off thanks in part to the use of a close ratio 6 speed gearbox. This engine and gearbox combination were unique to the Lupo GTI and its 200 kg heavier Polo GTI cousin.
The specification includes ABS, Air-Con, Remote Central Locking/ Immobiliser, Electric Windows & Mirrors, Rear Tailgate Spoiler, Sports Seats, Xenon Lights, Alloy Wheels. It still retains its original VW stereo and is unmodified.
Included is a copy of the Japanese de-registration/ export certificate, Japanese auction inspection report, full bookpack and Japanese service history up to 45000 miles. The tyre inflation kit is still present along with 2 keys (1 remote and 1 blade key).
We have just had a full service carried out and replaced the cambelt kit and water pump at our preferred VW specialist, Votex in Cheshire. Four new Toyo Proxes tyres will also be fitted in the correct 205/ 45 size prior to sale.
The overall condition of this car is superb throughout with none of the rust issues that are often found on UK cars.
