MOT until 31st July 2020. Diesel 2495cc. Ex Military. 5 speed gearbox. 158, 000km (98, 000 miles). Just 1 former keeper. Unwelded chassis. Released very late in 2011 hence condition.
We are delighted to present for sale this ex-military 90 in popular soft-top configuration.
Externally there are lots of original period military features - the bonnet mounted spare, front towing locator, galvanised bonnet clasps, rear bumperettes, NATO hitch and whip aerial mount on the rear. The vehicle sits on a set of military 750 tyres for additional gearing and has larger door mirrors for increased visibility behind. The canvas is a brand new item (procured at significant expense), and also has side windows installed, which is a nice touch. This allows for added comfort for rear passengers whilst improving visibilty for driving. The paintwork survives in good, ex military condition. A pair of posh, aluminium door tops completes the set up - well worth having as standard items tend to rust badly.
On the inside, there are two standard front seats, with a fire extinguisher in the passenger footwell. There are a pair of gun clips in the centre (ideal if you shoot) and the rear houses a pair of bench seats giving transport for 6. The recent canvas has side windows too so you can travel in the rear in relative comfort..... and a roll cage is neatly fitted to the sticks so in the event of a rollover passengers woud not get squashed! It's generally very tidy inside - and matting throughout helps.
The underside of this vehicle is exceptional - the chassis has never been welded and is in perfect condition. We have professionally undersealed it to protect it for many years to come. The fact that this vehicle has been in the military for many years and only recently released is the probable reason why it's survived so well.
The normally aspirated diesel engine fires up easily and runs very well, and with just 98, 000 miles on the clock, it's a very low mileage example. As one would expect it drives very well and just as it should.
If you are looking for a soft top Land Rover to enjoy for many years then this truck is worth a look - in 7 years time it will be both tax and MOT exempt too which is something to look forward to..... to drive a modern style 90 with these benefits will be fantastic for the forthcoming owner. All in all, in our opinion, this is a superb 90 in a condition not normally found these days.
