The Mercedes-Benz SLS was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. It was the first model completely designed and built by Mercedes Benz's in-house tuning arm, AMG. The SLS is the spiritual successor to the famed Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing of the 1950's. The SLS's roof-hinged doors are reminiscent of those on the original Gullwing.
The SLS's 563 hp. 6. 2 liter dual-overhead cam V8, was the most powerful normally aspirated engine that had ever been produced. The car features dry sump lubrication, a 7 speed pedal shift transaxle, a carbon fiber driveshaft and a magician's bag of other tricks. The performance is astonishing. The SLS faster around the track than its supercar predecessor, the mighty Mercedes McLaren SLR.
- This SLS was purchased new from Mercedes-Benz of Melbourne, Florida. It was kept by that sole owner until roughly a year ago.
- Today it is on its second owner. It shows just 3, 769 miles and is in like-new condition.
