HITORY – We offered this striking example for sale just over three years ago when the then owner suddenly decided that she no longer wanted to sell. We were delighted to be contacted by her again however, sadly, due to ill-health she has now decided the time is right. Cathedral Classics have now successfully purchased this quite uniquely styled car and are thrilled to bring it to the market place once again. A genuine Euro - German specification car, it has been fastidiously maintained by just 3 owners in total and has covered a mere 76, 080 kilometers with, of course, a full Jaguar history.
EXTERIOR – This is an original European specification vehicle finished in Solid Black (code PDH) which has been converted to quad headlamps along with a discrete third brake light added in the 1990’s. Karmann’s design contribution to the XJS model is well documented and no one can deny this drop dead gorgeous styling which still turns heads wherever you go – from both young and old. The ‘facelift’ revised rear light cluster compliment the black exterior with all chrome work nicely presented. The mohair hood (recently cleaned) is tight and in wonderful condition as is the rear toneau cover. Following a lengthy detailing session, the original solid paint is now gleaming brightly. Discrete after-market features include: front day running lights and a rear high intensity third brake light.
INTERIOR – The black leather, fully electric and heated seats with silver grey carpeting contrast well together and make the cockpit just a great place to be. The burr walnut veneers and matching in-lays are as they were when leaving the factory; the silver grey headlining is in wonderful condition and appears tight with no sagging but, come on, let’s slide that hood down! Discrete after-market features include: rear park sensors with interior digital reader, (a very handy addition); battery immobiliser; a unique windbreaker which has actually been adapted from a BMW E30 cabrio and fits perfectly. The car has also received a recent air conditioning service.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – The 4. 0 straight six AJ6 engine with combined with its 4 speed automatic electronic ZF4HP24E transmission cruises beautifully with 222ps (163 kW). The engine bay is nicely detailed and far more accessible than its V12 predecessor.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – The expensive option factory fitted chrome 5 spoke 16” sports alloys are in perfect condition and are absolutely stunning against the black exterior. All four corners are shod with quality Pirelli P600 225/ 55 ZR16 tyres with plenty of tread. The electronically controlled anti-lock braking system with YAW control grips relentlessly to all four discs offering safe, consistent and predictable stopping power.
