The 1100 or BMC ADO16 was produced from 1962 until 1974 and was Britain’s best-selling car for several years, with nearly 2. 5 million produced in Austin, Morris, Riley, Wolseley and MG variants. 1966, estate car versions became available, as “Austin Countryman” or “Morris Traveller”. These cars were practical, offering more load space than much larger estates but sold in fairly small numbers making them extremely rare today.
This car is a 1971 MK2 Austin 1300 Countryman automatic in white with dark blue trim. The mileage is correct at just 24, 000 from new (supported by two original service books) with condition to match and a level of originality that is becoming virtually impossible to find. All of the panels are original, as is the interior trim and it has never been repaired or restored and all of the original spot welds and creases are visible on the body. On the road, this 1300 drives beautifully with light steering and a close to new car feel from all of the controls.
Over the years, we have sold various show-winning low mileage BMC cars but this is perhaps the most original. It’s also more or less unique. We are currently in the middle of a little further detailing but it is available for viewing now.
