EXTERIOR
This GT2 is finished in striking Polar Silver Metallic, a special order colour boasting a subtle ice-blue tint. Under our studio lights the bodywork is very presentable all round, with few blemishes to note. Additional specification includes a lightweight carbon fibre rear wing and door mirrors casings, bringing the exterior more in line with that of a Clubsport. This 51k mile example offers a rare opportunity to purchase one of only 129 UK-supplied right-hand drive GT2s, ready to be driven and very much enjoyed.
INTERIOR
Interior specification includes leather-trimmed bucket seats with driver’s harness, a stainless steel roll-over bar with diagonal struts, carbon fibre centre console, carbon fibre ‘GT2’ door entry guards, and a three-spoke leather steering wheel. Despite its track-focused credentials the cabin is not wholly devoid of comforts, with features like air conditioning, electric windows, and a CD player all standard fitment. The interior is in great shape throughout with only light wear to the seats and steering wheel hinting at the car’s age and use. The carbon fibre retains a pristine gloss finish, the dash is unmarked and the carpets are unspoiled.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The GT2’s 3. 6-litre powerplant was lifted from the 996 Turbo, albeit with some key changes. The main revision was the use of larger turbochargers, with the KKK17 items swapped for bigger KKK24 blowers, with boost pressure increased to 13. 5psi – that meant a power output of 456hp and a top speed close to 200mph.
This particular example has been extremely well maintained from new, boasting 16 Porsche/ Specialist stamps in the original service booklet. The last service was carried out at 50, 669 miles at a cost of over £1k. The car has driven less than 700 miles since then, also visiting Porsche for a fresh 111 point check in January this year.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The 996 sits on 18-inch alloys with the correct GT2 centre caps. The wheels are in excellent condition with only the lightest of curb marking on a couple to report. Between the spokes the yellow brake calipers look great and do a fine job of stopping the car quickly and in a straight line. The wheels are wrapped in a matching set of Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, each with ample tread remaining.
HISTORY FILE
The GT2 was supplied new by Porsche Centre Swindon in October 2002. The History File is complete with a raft of invoices, MOT certificates, all owners’ manuals in the document pouch, and a fully stamped service booklet. A breakdown of the service stamps is detailed below.
