Description
In 1978 Porsche decided to replace the 911 and Carrera models with the Super Carrera. The SC featured the Carrera wider body and an upgraded 3. 0 lt boxer engine that boasted 180, 188 and later 204 bhp. Its limited production run of 5 years came with a modernization of several exterior features including the window surrounds coating in black matte and headlamp rings finished in body color. For model year 1978 these upgrades were offered only as special options.
The SC offered here was ordered early in 1978 to feature all these options along with electric windows, Bilstein shocks instead of Boge, leather steering wheel, fog lights and Air Conditioning. The color selected was Cashmere Beige which was offered only between 1978 and 1980. Soon after it was delivered to its 1st owner in southern California who later sold it to another local enthusiast that kept it for 26 years. Remarkably, both owners amassed a total mileage of only 77, 893 mi. In 2014 the SC was mechanically recommissioned and acquired by a marque collector who had it imported in Athens, Greece. Its accident-free body was treated with an excellent respray in the original color, its rust-free underside was fastidiously detailed, a new interior (including dashboard) in the original Cork color and trim were fitted as well as the engine and drivetrain were overhauled rendering a stellar SC. It is now offered fully sorted to be displayed at marque shows or driven immensely for the years to come.
