HISTORY OF THE RANGE ROVER
The late 1960’s saw the emergence of the recreational off-road market led Land Rover to come up with a radically new competitor to the Jeep Wagoneer and the Ford Bronco. Land Rover passed on this challenge to Charles Spencer King, under the project title of “The 100 inch Station Wagon”.
It all started when Rover bought a Bronco and noticed the coiled suspension, this boosted the luxury element as gave improved performance and comfort. He also noted the powerful Buick V8. However, Mr. King gave the Range Rover several unique capabilities, improved carburettors that still fed fuel at extreme angles and the infamous started handle for emergencies.
It was launched in 1970 as “a car for all reasons”. The Range Rover was also the first permanent 4x4 to do over 100mph whilst having a towing capacity of 3. 5 metric tons, accommodation for five, hydraulic disc brakes to all wheels and the groundbreaking dual-range, permanent four-wheel drive gearbox.
A four door version was introduced in 1981, with the two door version phased out in 1994, it was then named the ‘Classic’ to differentiate from the all new P38a Range Rover.
THE CAR
This 1994 Range Rover Classic 300TDI was first registered on 06/ 08/ 1994 in Barcelona, located in Spain's autonomous region of Catalonia. The vehicle registration has most recently been maintained in the City of Manresa.

The Tarjeta is an official document that documents annual mileage records for this vehicle for the past 24 years. The history file is also accompanied with a Spanish state history report. This gives a digital record of mileages dating back to 2013, along with change of ownerships. The vehicle also comes with an English translated clean Spanish Carfax report.
CONDITION
INTERIOR
Overall the interior presents in very good condition. There are slight defects to the door cards and a tear in the velore on the rear bench armrest. Overall for the age the wear is very moderate. The headliner will have certainly been replaced in recent years as there is no signs of sagging or of it parting from the board. The stereo is a aftermarket Blaupunkt item, that features both hands-free and Bluetooth capability. Uniquely the rear cargo area still retains It's original wheel and cargo cover.
EXTERIOR & PAINT
Overall the paint presents in good general condition the vehicle has previously been completely repainted in the original Plymouth blue to a good standard. All the panels present straight, with good panel alignment. There are certain scratches and defects which are highlighted in the photo gallery. Notably a scratch beside the offside fuel cap. Vehicle is also fitted with the EFI style lower front spoiler, with frog lights. Interesting to note that these era soft – dash four door Classic, were fitted with the US federal compliant overriders and subsequently the factory VIN decodes these models as "US Market" It begs the question whether Land Rover had intended and made some of the regulatory measures to distribute this variant in North America.
GLASS
All windows and windshield are chip free and intact. All the windows are factory original with the exception of the driver windshield.
WHEELS
The vehicle is accompanied by an original matching set of grey finished Alloy Vogue wheels. Fitted with a matching set of Pirelli Scorpion ATR road tyres.
ENGINE
There is very little to say really other than the 300 TDI, has amassed a reputation in the Land Rover world as one of the most reliable and dependable engines Land Rover have ever built. So much so that demand from the likes of the MOD, NATO, and non-EU civilian sales, meant that this engine continued production up until 2006. This engine truly is bullet-proof and can be fixed in a field.
GEARBOX
The R380 Gearbox runs and shifts easily, with high and low diff locks working.
