1992 Volkswagen Golf GTI Rivage
Not to be confused with other Mark 1 GTI drop tops, this one is quite special in model and remarkable in condition.
The Rivage was the run-out model for the GTI convertible, where in typical VW style every conceivable cool bit of kit from past special editions was collated and placed into one limited edition model.
Only 470 Rivage models were supplied to the UK, of which this immaculate example is one. Optioned in Blue Inca metallic paint, this Rivage boasts the optional cream leather interior and retains Le Castellet forged alloy wheels, powered mohair hood and Rivage body treatment. This example was also specified from factory with air conditioning, apparently at the request of the first owner who wanted to keep the soft top fresh by not lowering it.
Of course, underneath all these options remains the drivetrain of a hot hatch icon, the original GTI, and this example is in superb unmodified condition. Having covered only 77, 000 miles and with full service history, this GTI is one of the finest we’ve seen.
Sold with a substantial history file with stacks of invoices, every previous MOT certificate and more, this is a superb example a special GTI model - and undoubtedly an ideal summer cruiser.
