1983 Volkswagen Golf GTI
As the barn find continues to occupy a mythical place in the heart of the classic car buyer, and auction houses continue to order bags of dust by the tonne to sprinkle over their cars pre-auction, this 1983 Volkswagen Golf GTI is a twist on the theme - a saw mill find.
Recovered from perhaps the truest definition of dry storage, the car had been dormant in a saw mill for a number of years before being extensively recommissioned to bring it to the fantastic condition it is in today.
As documented in the car’s history file, the car received much work including new front wings, doors and rear arches, new fuel tank with braided lines and a thorough drivetrain restoration including new clutch, cambelt, poly bushed axles and much, much more.
The car was then repainted in the gorgeous shade of Lhasa Green, finished with refurbished correct alloy wheels and is in superb condition today. The original interior was left untouched, as it should be, and is in excellent condition.
As the photographs show, this is a fantastic example of the definitive hot hatch hero finished in a lesser seen colour combination and wanting for nothing. Available for viewing in our West London showroom.
