HERE we have a genuine factory-built MGB GT V8 (VIN number GD2D1-2350G) which is one hell of an eye-catching piece of kit with Sebring styling. Originally a rubber bumper V8, there were just 742 of those models built. She underwent massive work in the late 1990s and has done something like 30, 000 miles since which is just a pleasant amount over that period of time. It also proves that she is a car that has been driven and enjoyed as opposed to stored.
Just to mention some of the work done at the time. Front wings, doors, outer and inner sills, castle sections, lower rear wings, sill closing panels, front trumpet sections, front valance, rear road springs (later Spax), king pins and bushes, copper brake pipes, 4 tyres, fuel pump and the list goes on. Since then, there has been more which included rebuilt gearbox, overdrive unit, complete new clutch assembly, alternator, manifolds, stainless steel exhaust, front shockers, fuel tank and pipes, brake and clutch slave cylinders, alloy wheels.
While writing this, I am looking at a copy of Practical Classics from February 2000 and in particular a feature comparing V8 cars. The MGB in question is indeed this one RUP 667P.
She is still in very good order with just some minor paint imperfections here and there. Some of the colour around the area where the rear bumper would have been is maybe not quite the perfect match. She has a fully operating Webasto sun roof too. She has always been kept tested even though she no longer requires an MoT and the current one runs until next month, October. You can check her MoT history via the internet and at the same time follow her mileage each year.
All in all, a really nice example of a rare iconic piece of British motoring history. As ever, my margins are small as I buy classics based on my love and appreciation of them. I have, in essence, become something of a classic car re-homer.
Should you opt to purchase a classic car from me - classic meaning that it will be the equivalent of a motoring antique - then you are accepting that the vehicle will have had faults in the past and that, inevitably, there will be more to deal with in the future. Almost certainly and unless stated otherwise, the vehicle will have undergone some degree of restoration work and, again, it is more than likely it will need more at some stage during its life. I am a one-man enthusiast who enjoys unearthing these old girls and finding new homes for them. Viewing is highly recommended and then you can form your opinion of an aged vehicle just as I will have already formed mine. Modern-day life practically dictates that the majority of classic vehicles - and it is certainly the case with mine - are sold via internet advertising and with the added bonus of digital photographs. Extra and specific photographs will also be available on request. Should you choose to buy without viewing in person then please don't tell me a month later that the horn doesn't work, the full beam is faulty or that you have found some ancient repair of which I knew nothing. My terms therefore are that by buying from me you are accepting that, almost inevitably, classic vehicles will require further remedial work at some stage.
I accept all major debit cards and can also assist with delivery if required. Thanks for reading if you have managed to make it this far! Martin the details below)
