The last air-cooled VW Beetle was produced in Mexico in July 2003 and to celebrate this a limited run of 3000 Última Edición Beetles were released. Finished in ‘Aquarius Blue’ and ‘Harvest Moon Beige’ they were supplied with 1. 6i air-cooled engine; body coloured wheels with whitewall tires; a radio/ CD player with four speakers; chrome bumpers, trim, hub caps and exterior mirrors; a Wolfsburg crest above the front trunk’s handle; a rear parcel shelf and a VW Última Edición glovebox plaque.
My car is the ‘Aquarius Blue’ version and was imported to the UK new in 2003 but not registered on the road until March 2005. She was professionally converted to right-hand drive on import but has otherwise been maintained very carefully in her original, unmodified state.
She has only covered 37800km (approx. 23500 miles) during the summer months - we have avoided winter driving and the accompanying issues related to wet, salty roads. She has been wax-oiled underneath to further protect the underside.
She is in excellent condition both inside and out and comes with a full history. The electronic fuel-injected engine gives a reliable, fun driving experience which is surprisingly efficient for a Beetle. She has disc brakes at the front (with recently replaced pads) and rear drum brakes which provide good stopping power. She also has factory fitted front and rear seat belts. Two sets of keys are present and security is provided by a factory fitted (key activated) alarm/ immobiliser system.
She has a rear luggage rack and an ‘A’-frame towbar fitted to her and I also have a roofrack (disassembled) that the buyer will receive on purchase. She has a repro-‘Kamei’ front spoiler fitted which noticeably improves front-end stability.
MOT’d until January 2021.
I have owned her for the last 8 years and are very reluctantly offering her for sale due to health issues which is making it hard to drive her now and hopefully someone else will get to enjoy her as much as we have.
