The Packard Motor Car Company was one of the longest-lasting of the original American independents. Founded in 1899 in Ohio by the Packard brothers and George Weiss after the latter was frustrated when his suggestions on how to improve his own Winton automobile went ignored by the company.
Packard would go on to make startling inroads amongst wealthy Americans by concentrating almost exclusively on high-end cars.
Eventually, the automaker would find a broad audience in Europe and Asia as well for its exquisitely styled and powerful vehicles. By the time the Depression hit, Packard was able to leverage its unique single assembly line system (with all cars based on the same basic platform) to ride out the economic chaos – and in fact while away the malaise by producing some of its most opulent models.

A very Impressive and imposing 1940’s RHD touring saloon in show condition, very low mileage, 3 volumes of history, ready to use....
This 22-Series, 6 cylinder/ 4 litre, RHD Packard Sedan was supplied to South Africa in 1948 and spent the next 33 years in SA, Rhodesia and Ghana.
It was then shipped by the owner to the UK and unused for the next 28 years until restored from 2009-2012 by an architect in Wetherby at a cost of over £30, 000.
The bodywork is a beautiful shiny blue complimented by a blue and white interior. Since its refurbishment it has only covered about 1000 miles and is probably the best preserved car of its type in the UK.
There are 3 folders packed with history showing its extensive and complete restoration....

Although it has a king-of-the-road presence, it is pleasant to drive, comfortable and safe with seatbelts, big flashing indicators, good brakes and a bullet-proof engine.
