This car has an amazing story backed up by the as found condition and items with it.
Very late registered 6 months after production ended.
Surely this car has a role again as a Wedding and funeral car and must surely go on the books for period film and Tv work, a black Humber Hawk was a ministry staple.
Bought by the owner for 2 things, Weddings and Funerals, he set out to buy a new black Hawk, he could not get one, maybe as they were all sold to Government, so bought a Maroon one and had it stripped and repainted black before registration, i assume arranged by the dealer who sold it.
The car was parked in a dark dry garage every night and 43 years ago never came out again.
It was parked ready to go to work, business cards, Vip private hire company Brochure, Both black and white umbrellas for each occasion and a Dunn & Co top hat in it, s box. All still there along with a complete book pack, showing supplying dealer, starting handle etc. Under the rear seat is bone dry, as the paper confetti covering will show it always has been.
There is absolutely know doubt the 23000 odd miles are correct and the car was dry stored, The interior is just superb, as are all rubber interior and window seals, I have never seen a 50 year old interior this good.
Never offered to market before and only now because the garage it was stored in began to leak and the roof collapsed.
There is some very minor new metal required in 3 accessible places, the roof has a couple of dents, the chrome and paint want re doing but this is all very easy, there is very little rust, the underside is superbly original, the interior the same.
As you might expect, this is not a well used car with a worn engine, covered 23k in ten years and tucked away for 43 years, the Engine is locked. I have filled the bores with Diesel but in this case i am not going to force the issue. It really should be done properly, head off etc, not forced into submission like a worn high miler would be.
This would be a very rewarding project, there is no structural welding, just some very small panel repairs, there is no interior work or parts required.
The car is absolutely complete with no wear to anything including in the boot.
Getting her running again will take some effort but again except consumables not a lot of spending needed. In fact you could possibly only need to buy paint, chrome, a few square inches of sheet steel and consumables, everything is there and a vast majority in very good condition.
