Here’s a very original, fully working, completely un-molested Series 2A that has had a sympathetic restoration to preserve it. Still retains all its original 2A features, never been modified, sits on its original wheel rims, bought from a long term lady owner, exactly how you want to find them, it’s a real gem.
Starts runs and drives very well, the petrol engine is so quite you think its stalled at tick over, all the gears select easily (in a Land Rover Series fashion), has amazingly good brakes and handbrake, no need to wag away with the steering wheel to keep it in a straight line, pulls well, stops well, not at all like an early Landie, it drives absolutely spot on.
It is tax and MOT exempt but was still presented for its MOT and was tested until 16th June 2019. First registered to the Royal Veterinary College, Hatfield and comes complete with all the log books issued over the years. Spent all its life down South until the long term lady owner brought it up to Scotland, she used this car sparingly for 24 years and kept it religiously serviced and maintained and it’s always lived inside.
There’s a huge history file with MOT’s, service invoices and tax discs going back to the early 80’s, it also comes with several workshop manuals and parts books. Still very original with standard steel rims, deep cill panels, bonnet mounted spare wheel, lights in the centre, 3 standard front seats and free wheel hubs. Also has a rare, unknown model, working very well heater fitted. Its sitting on its original very solid chassis and the bulkhead top corners and footwells are solid too, see pics and video.
It did have very poor paintwork, that had been painted over, patched added too and rubbed off over the years, the general finish was terrible. Its been extensively stripped back to bare metal, etched primed, primed and several coats of top paint, a huge undertaking. Also has 5 new tyres, 4 new shock absorbers, all new side lights, head lights and indicators, new door seals, new hinge pins, new door top channels and trims and a new hood stick set. There is a very straight and tidy full hard top with “cat flap” rear top door if the buyer wants to take it and an indoor tailored dust cover, all included at the asking price.
Very original specification with excellent history, another like it will not come along next week. Not been completely spoilt with a full rebuild, still has all its charm and character with just the shoddy body work improved, it’s a proper old Land Rover ready to enjoy.
