Description

Ex-Bandido Club Member bike assembled in 1977 in Texas from OEM parts from 1948, "plumbing style" heads with newer no-lead seats, 1948 Springer front forks with Ford Model A tie-rod extensions and 1954 "wishbone" frame and engine. I have complete title history tracing bike back to its original owner and builder. I have owned and cared for this bike since 1992 having had engine rebuilt in 2006-7. PATINA is the word with regard to the overall look but tanks were treated to high quality paint and metal 1948 H-D "arrow" decal plates. Low, loud and very fast, I have driven it roughly 800 miles in 30 years but when it was ridden daily, it was a true 2-jump, starting machine. Although I have ruled the mean streets of New York City on this machine, it is too dangerous to ride in Naples Florida because no matter how loud or obvious, old people will try to kill you. As a precaution against certain death, I re-installed the front brake with period correct handle to better manage braking duties and an 80mm Mikuni Carb to handle expeditious flight from dangerous drivers. To accommodate my own aging, I installed an Arlen Ness designed "deep bucket" modern headlight. I have only seen one other bike that remotely resembles this machine and it was pictured being ridden by Brad Pitt. His is red; and nice looking with matching 16" tires and drag style handlebar, similar to mine. But while he may be Brad Pitt, the combination of man and bike favors me because mine is a better looking, and truly period-correct machine. But I will let you judge.
Two boxes of period correct spares are included as well as documentation of origin and maintenance over 30 years. Currently stored dry and located in Naples Florida, I am happy to work with Purchaser's shipping agent for smoothest transaction possible. For reasons beyond me, the fact that every other chopper that you will ever see is simply a reproduction of this bike is a fact lost on the US market that at least should grasp heritage if not rarity, but alas there is no expected pool of acceptable and appreciative owners. This is motorcycle history, and a UK or European owner will guarantee preservation over which I have been an admired and appreciative steward for 30 years. Photos are older and from 2009 when an ex-wife demanded it be put up for sale. Current wife appreciates that a rebuilt ACL in my right knee prevents me from enjoying it as it should be enjoyed by an owner that can ride it more regularly.
This vintage and period correct, outlaw chopper is an exquisite treat and as rare as a Bugatti Atlantic.
