The Appeal

Taking its name from the distinctive front fork that both evolves the 1948 Panhead Harley and makes it so comfortable on cruises, the FXSTS-based Springer range are understandably hugely popular with enthusiasts. This 2001 example began life as a stock Springer, but was customised by its first keeper into a Heritage Springer using OEM FLSTS parts, including a classic-style two-tone repaint.

That first keeper was a collector who loved it so much that he retained it for over 20 years. As a 2001 model it benefits from the later twin cam 1,449cc air cooled four stroke 45 degree V-Twin, a motor that is more powerful and more reliable than the earlier 1,340cc motor. It was factory fitted with the $800 optional fuel injection, a rare choice then and now. Other options include a Paughco exhaust and 14in Ape Hanger handlebars, smoke visor indicators and an upgraded cam chest. The vendor states the bike is in outstanding condition both mechanically and cosmetically, noting only a very small, barely noticeable mark on the rear cylinder's fins on the right-hand side. Recently serviced and rolling on fresh tyres, this is a head-turning Springer Softail that the vendor describes as smooth-running and reliable.
