THIS, in my opinion, is a super example of the Riley 4/ 72 which back in the day was the model at the very top of the "Farina" tree. The pecking order from the bottom ran as follows: Austin Cambridge, Morris Oxford, Wolseley 16/ 60, MG Magnette and Riley 4/ 72! The Riley, like the Magnette, came with twin carbs and knocked out 72 bhp. Surprisingly enough!
A mere 14, 000 Rileys were made out of the 550, 000 Farinas produced and today they are remain a pretty rare bird for obvious reasons.
Beautifully finished in dark red and grey, she boasts relatively new red leather throughout and excellent woodwork. Looks well, sits well and By Golly (Oh my goodness, can you still use that phrase??), she drives so well! She looks sound in all the right places and she really is a true sporty 1960s saloon. Great chrome, nice under the bonnet, mega clean in the boot and with very straight floor pans. She is currently displaying her original UK plates from 1964 but she moved to Ireland just three years ago and is still registered on Irish plates. Her UK number (seen here) is still on the system and will almost certainly be the number returned to the vehicle when the new owner re-registers here.
