Sold by Perivale Motors London, LPC was issued its registration number by Surrey County Council, a licence number which it retains to this day. First owned by a Mr Sheen of Dorking, the car remained in the leafy suburbs of the capital for only a year before moving back to the midlands where she was born. Two owners later in 1968 she was off to the south coast and a stay in Brighton for the remainder of the 1960’s.
The early 1970’s took the car to another West Sussex owner and then onto Essex. 1977 sees LPC undergoing its annual MOT in Yorkshire and a further change of owner to Mrs Loftus who appears to have kept this well travel E Type until the late 1980’s.
By 1988 and the then owner is commissioning some major body work restoration together with some sensible associated work. We are fortunate in not only having the a good number of photographs taken during this work but also a number of invoices and technical detail.
Around 10 years later the same owner bites the bullet again and undertook completion of the areas not included in the cars first major refurbishment. This work included an engine rebuild, re-trim, new hood and a raft of further mechanical work.
CMC has known the car while it has been in its current ownership and we have recently carried out a major service, fitted new Avon radials and various other works to prepare the car for sale. After 7 years with our client and continuous care and attention by CMC in that time, someone else is now able to enjoy open-top E Type ownership of this lovely car.
Currently finished in red with its two-tone interior re-trim still in good order, LPC360D drives and runs very well indeed and looks the part on the wider rims and fatter tyres. With a slick gearbox and willing engine the is a lot to like about this car. For those looking for a summer of E Type roadster motoring without breaking the bank in this 60th year of the model, it is difficult to imagine a better value way doing it.
