With a heavy heart after 5 years of ownership, I have decided I need to sell my Escort, due to too many on-going projects and lack of time, space & money.
I have spent an absolute fortune on getting it to where it is today. I purchased as a totally standard & original XR3i cabriolet, used it like this for a few years before upgrading most aspects of the car which I have listed below.
The car is incredibly genuine, it retains all original panels, is HPi clear, never been welded, retains 95% original paint (bumpers & wing mirrors have been painted due to fading + had a few minor touch up’s in it’s 32 years, particularly around the driver’s side rear wheel arch which will need some further attention soon + a small section on the scuttle panel, everything else all original & solid including the battery tray. It’s very presentable but does have the usual stone chips, a few dings & dents + a few minor rust spots but overall a good looking honest car & the perfect base for improvement if desired? Original mileage of the actual car is just over 126k with the running gear only having covered just over 2k.
Engine spec is huge, rolling road tuned at 189 BHP with a slipping clutch on boost (replaced) so true BHP is estimated to be close to 200 BHP, a staggeringly quick car, around 5k spent on running gear alone & full spec is:

• Dyno print out with Clive Atthowe, made 189bhp (with slipping clutch at the time, I would estimate close to 200BHP but not re-dyno tuned with new clutch).

Engine has covered around 2000 miles since being newly & fully built & has been correctly run in for 1000 miles. Has had 3 oil changes during this time along with spark plugs & HT Leads. Rolling road tuned by local professional with excellent knowledge of RST’s & has had cambelt, tensioner & water pump fitted around 1800 miles ago. Starts on the button, it’s slightly lumpy for around 30 seconds but then settles into perfect idle. Car drives absolutely superbly, really cannot fault it & is without a doubt one of the quickest cars I’ve ever driven. I have loads of paperwork with the car including some service history, old MOT’s, brochures & invoices/ receipts for the work done & parts replaced.
Has the usual standard features such as electric windows, electric mirrors, heated front screen etc etc. Car has genuinely been highly maintained regardless of cost & has had many new parts fitted, too much to list. The car comes with shed full of spares, way too many to list here as there is a lot which could be included in the sale at the right price & some of these are genuine Ford NOS + some rare items that I have collected over the years.
This is a 100% genuine & reluctant sale as I’ve just imported a Toyota MKII GX from Japan & have 3 other Japanese cars (Corolla AE86, Starlet GT Turbo & Yaris T-Sport) but not enough space or time for everything so the Escort needs to go as I’ve now moved over to Japanese cars.
Currently no MOT but will MOT for the new owner once sold. No advisories on last MOT & very little use since so I know it will go straight through the next MOT.
As mentioned above, some areas of the bodywork could do with some minor TLC if you wanted a minter however it is presentable & perfectly useable as it is, this would be up to you, never bothered me enough as just wanted to use & enjoy it & focussed more on the mechanical & performance aspects of the car.
Rear seats removed from car as never needed or used them & when I changed the front seats I was not able to source an 80 spec top section of the rear seat so had an 80 spec base with a 90 spec top section (these will be included in the sale).
I estimate the car stands me in at well over 8k & the prices of old Fords are increasing so I know what it is worth & know what it would be worth in parts, no stupid offers please & not interested in any swaps.

Absolutely epic car that is mechanically spot on, just needs the right person to take the bodywork to the next level or just simply enjoy as it is.
The clocks failed last year @126, 975 miles so changed them out, the clocks now read 88k but it has only covered around 1, 500 miles since the clock change.
