Overview
A remarkable Gen 1 ‘New MINI’ which surely must be one of the best examples in the UK. A well specified example of a supercharged convertible Cooper S, this car has had one owner from new and has only covered 6200 miles in 15 years. Supplied with the following equipment from the factory:

Supplied new by Cooper Tunbridge Wells, Mr V. collected his new car on 01/ 08/ 06 and has been the sole owner ever since. Having access to other vehicles meant that mileage was kept exceptionally low – this car has never been outside of Kent/ Sussex/ Surrey. Serviced by the supplying dealer until 2012, there were then 4 services carried out by an independent garage. Since taking custodianship of the car, we have had an Inspection 2 service carried out by Chandlers MINI (Brighton), where it caused quite a stir in the Service department, with the responsible Technician saying he had never seen an example quite like it, not since working on the production line in Cowley 15 years ago. We are in possession of all the original books in the original holder, an unused Ministry of Ownership Passport as well as numerous invoices for work carried out, historical MOT certificates and the original bill of sale showing the car costing £21079 in 2006. The car has a fresh MOT with no advisories so is ready to go.
Mechanical Condition
The car starts on the button and settles quickly to a nice, even idle. The earlier engines are noticeably quieter than later generations, doing without the direct injection that has a characteristic ‘chatter’, but instead providing an exhaust note that has a more bassy note to it. Moving off, the clutch and gearbox both have a positive and clean action. Once on the move, the engine pulls smoothly and strongly through the gears, with the distinctive supercharged whine providing a backdrop that becomes quite addictive. The steering, suspension and brakes are all as tight as they were when new, hardly surprising given the mileage. Frankly, it is difficult to imagine a tighter driving example.
Exterior Condition
The paintwork is in fantastic condition, holding a deep lustre and being completely original with no evidence of repairs or restoration anywhere. There are no ‘supermarket’ dings in the paintwork or any scuffs on the bumpers. The hood is free from blemishes or damage, only showing the smallest of witness marks from folding. The tyres are matching Dunlop SP Sport 9000, all with 5mm or more of remaining tread and the wheels are original, having never been refurbished or repaired. The rear nearside wheel has picked up some grazing as shown in the photos, but it seems a shame to sacrifice originality for such a minor blemish and as such we have elected to not have it refurbished. Along with the odd stone chip, these really are the only items worthy of mention as the car is overwhelmingly a stunning example all round.
Interior Condition
As expected, the condition of the interior apes the exterior. Everything works without fail and all warning lights go out as they should. The leather seats show virtually no wear with only some very slight stretching on the front seat bases as you might expect. Without doubt, a very enjoyable environment to be in.
Summary
This is a stunning example of the Gen1 MINI and presents a rare opportunity for the next owner. As these cars reach 20+ years old, decent examples will become very hard to find, even more so decent specification, low owner, low mileage examples.
