1956 Austin Healey 100/ 4 BN2

Registration No: YYJ 398
Chassis Number: BN2/ 230924
Engine Number: 1B/ 230924M
Body Number: 12303

Built on the 15th of February 1956, This Austin Healey 100/ 4 BN2 was exported to the US to the Hambro Trading Company. Originally built-in left-hand drive configuration. A laminated windscreen and a heater are listed under details of factory equipment, while the original colour scheme was Ivory White with black interior and matching hood. Stated on the FIVA card, this car raced in period at the Santa Barbara Road Races in 1959 and 1960, and at the Pamona Road Races in March 1960.

In 1992 the Healey returned to the UK and has had five owners in this country, including the current vendor. Four of the last UK owners are listed in the FIVA Card. The car was converted to its current right-hand specification shortly after being repatriated to the UK.

Re-panelled in 2008 with an all-aluminium body in and painted its current colour scheme. Paint finish of the car remains excellent. YYJ 398 has all the correct 100 M parts. These include the louvred bonnet, cold air box, and larger front anti-roll bar. The engine was rebuilt to 100M specification by Denis Welch Motorsport around 9000miles ago with the much-improved aluminium cylinderhead being fitted. The gearbox & overdrive were also rebuilt at this time.

In 2016 this car came 2nd in the Austin-Healey Club National Concours, losing out only to the Earls Court Motor Show car. Classic & Sports Car featured the Healey in its August 2018 edition and were suitably impressed with performance and road handling. The steering of the car is responsive and smooth. Overdrive operates instantly and smoothly. Oil pressure is 50psi when running and 40psi at tick over and running temperatures consistent.

Previously sold through bonhams in 2019. The car had considerable funds spent throughout 2020 to improve the car further to its current condition. A full engine bay strip and paint, A front brake disc conversion kit was fitted for improved stopping power, High torque starter motor fitted, Electronic ignition, Alternator conversion and 12v socket supply.
A documented record is supplied in the history file and is backed up with purchase invoices.

'BN2L/ 230924' is on the American 100 M Le Mans Register as a later-converted car (rather than a factory-built 100 M).
Accompanying documentation includes detailed history & invoice file, V5C Registration Certificate, Heritage certificate, 100M registry certification, MOT certificates and the aforementioned FIVA card.
