Beschreibung
Chassis No. 601633 Engine No. 6380.
Reg. No. WK 6547
First reg. 01 12 28, in London and came to N. Ireland in 1929, bought by Mr. Garnet Holt of Newry, Co. Down. He ran it up to the outbreak of war in 1939 when it was stored on blocks in his warehouse until the present owner acquired it in 1969. It had a “body off” refurbishment, repaint and new upholstery, hood and tonneau around 1980, but since then has been used very little, probably only a few hundred miles, and dry stored during all of my ownership up to the present. The engine has never been overhauled during my time, and runs very well with good oil pressure. There is a slight oil leak at the dynamo housing. All the instruments were rebuilt in 1987, and at the same time the original Zenith carburettors were replaced with twin S U ’s specially made to the original pattern. (I could never get the engine to run properly on the Zeniths, even after overhaul.)
The “9 Sports Tourer” has the best power/ weight ratio of all the 4-seater nines and therefore gives a good touring or competition performance, with reasonable economy.
This is a genuine car and one of the few original vintage Rileys left. I am selling it after 40 years ownership with regret, having owned several Rileys down the years, but now have decided to call it a day, as my family have other interests.
We are 20 mins. from Belfast International Airport and you are welcome to come and view by arrangement. This is a private sale.
