For sale i have a Moonraker Blue 1985 Austin Montego Vanden Plas 2. 0 EFI (C248 VDH) PROJECT. Originally I was going to restore and keep the car myself however due to a change in circumstances (being let down with the body restoration side and now not having enough time) I am now looking to sell it.
Ideally I want to to go someone who has more time than I do who can completely restore it as it would be a real shame to scrap it even though i understand it does need a fair bit of work but to the right person it would be easy work and the asking price does relfect this. I originally brought the car from Stone, Staffordshire in early 2019 and intended to restore it in 2020 but it ended up being sat in a bodyshop for 18 months with no progress. It is currently stripped out with all in interior in storage. It has the Box Velour Seats with Dark Blue (can't remember the correct shade) dashboard. The seats are in good condition with minimal wear but would need a wet vax to really bring them up. All door cards are in good condition with just the wood trim needing to be relacquered. The dash is the only thing still left inside the car as it has a couple of split and didn't want to risk taking it out.
The car as well as obviously needing a full respray with welding involved it will need these panels as follows
Both front doors
Passenger rear door (Drivers rear door is in good condition)
Bonnet (old one has rot)
Sills
Rear arches
Front drivers wing (passenger side wing is in surprisingly good condition)
New front windscreen
Boot can be repaired as can the obvious scabs on the a pillars, and scuffs on bumpers with all other glass in good used condition (does have some overspray from being in a bodyshop for 18 months but can be removed with a stanley blade.
The car will need attention around the fuel filler neck as well as both the rear quarters where the bumper meets the quarter panel and does have two small holes in the floor pan at the back but basically needs a full resto and paint work.
The engine bay is currently completely empty but obviously the engine and all ancillaries will be sold with it. The head has had a skim and the valves were seated correctly but was obviously never refitted and has done approximately 69000 miles from new.
I have a few old MOTs that will be go with the car as well as various receipts from the past and a collection of old tax discs and due to the provenance I have listed below it seems a real shame for it to not be restored.

Started life at Cutlers of Streetly in Sutton Coldfield - August 1985, Owner lived in SC - Jan 1988 purchased at Cutlers again and then lived in Cannock - then sold in Aug 1990 and went to Stone - Must've changed to its 4th Keeper roughly in 1991/ 1992 (just a guess as owner in 1992 took great care in keeping MOT certificates from 1992 onwards until 1997)

As i sais the plan was to do the car myself (hence why i had the head skimmed and stripped it out but times have changed and i no longer have the time to do it and have been let down over the welding and spraying side to it) but it would make a great project for somebody with the time and facilities.
Obviously the car would need to be trailered and a large van would be needed for all the interior, interior fixings and engine parts (basically the whole contents of the car, interior and engine related)
