Description
Reluctantly, we are looking to sell my wife's Mini City E (998cc) which she has owned since October 2021. Although we had plans to take it to shows and use it more often, that aspiration has not materialised, and given how little we use it, we thought it best if we sell the car to someone who will be able to use it more than we have.
The car was originally registered on the 18th March 1987 and purchased from Dustonian Car Sales in Orpington, Kent. It remained in the ownership of a lady, also a resident of Orpington, for 30 years before being sold to its second owner in October 2017 with a mileage at the time of 23094 miles. We understand the second owner had plans for the car, but that the only things undertaken were a respray and the fitting of a centre exit exhaust.
My wife purchased the car as the third owner from a Classic Mini specialist in Swanley, with the car only having covered 192 miles since the previous change of ownership.
We have made our own modifications to the car. On the exterior, we have fitted Revolution wheels with Yokohama A539 tyres, chrome bumpers, chrome tail light surround, chrome grille, chrome bullet style door mirrors, Cooper style badges and four spotlights. We have also changed the interior to tan vinyl seats and door cards, with new dark brown door fittings, and installed an Optimise Automotive black boot liner with a battery access panel. It also had a tasteful walnut gear knob and wood rim steering wheel fitted. I have also replaced the driver's door seal which had perished around the door hinge area, and it also had a new driver's door window rail support bracket replaced.
The car comes with its original AM/ FM radio and rear shelf mounted Audioline speakers. An electric aerial can be extended from a switch in the glove box (not sure if this was an aftermarket item though). The dashboard mounted ash tray also appears unused.
Soon after my wife took ownership, we had a new fuel tank installed, several gaskets replaced, new wheel arch trims were fitted and the car serviced by a local BMW/ MINI specialist. In October 2022, it was tuned by a local Austin/ Rover specialist, who also did a basic service, replaced the rocker gasket cover, installed a new distributor drive and undertook an MOT.
As far as the bodywork is concerned, it is very solid and my understanding is the panels, etc., are all original. The only blemishes are a bit of surface corrosion at the bottom of the passenger side A-pillar and very slight paint bubbling at the bottom of each door. There are also some cosmetic imperfections around the rear roof drainage areas. But certainly nothing of concern, and which we would have remedied this year. if we had looked to keep the car.
There is lots of paperwork with the car from its current period of ownership and as far as I can see, it has all its MOT certificates present, plus the original bill of sale, where the first owner also paid £130 for a pop-up sunroof. I would also add that it has passed its last two MOTs, but with advisories, but as my wife planned to sell the car, they have not been replaced. As the car as not been used much in the last two years, it would benefit from an oil and filter change. That said, it starts first time and ticks over nicely as it comes up to temperature.
The car will come with an original Haynes Manual, the original owner's manuals two sets of keys, plus several other bits taken off the car, including the five steel wheels (one does not have a tyre fitted), the steering wheel, gear knob, boot lining, wing mirrors and tail light surround. The car is kept garaged and only driven on dry days and dry roads.
We have the V5C in my wife's name, along with plenty of paperwork. Please note, the car is listed elsewhere so will be withdrawn from this page if sold.
Thanks for taking the time to read this listing and please message me if you have any questions or want more information or pictures, and I will be happy to oblige. We are located in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk and are a few minutes from junctions 43 or 44 on the A14.
