Launched in 1967, the Yamaha AS1 had a big impact at the time, thanks to the performance of its 125cc 2-stroke twin-cylinder engine. The latter developed 15 hp at 8, 500 rpm as standard and reached 125km/ h, a lot more than the competition. It was therefore considered as a dream base for racing. The AS2 version succeeded it the following year.
This particular example was acquired by the current owner at an auction in 2019. It was then described as being from 1971, incompatible with the AS1 model. With not much history, this motorbike was running and was then displayed in our collector's garage without being restarted. It will be up to the new owner to cautiously restart it. This beautiful and powerful machine has its place in a living room as well as on the track.
