MOTODROME ARE CLASSIC LAND ROVER SPECIALISTS – SEE WEBSITE FOR FULL STOCK
Motodrome offer this gorgeous 1967 example of the ever-popular Land Rover Series IIa, this one a mid-period petrol narrow-headlight model 88in soft top, finished in the classic Marine Blue.
Fitted with: freewheel front hubs and a matching set of 5 recent 600x16 tyres
Inside it has 3 seats across the front, a pair of twin rear benches in the load area (making it a 7 seater at a pinch) and floor mats.
It’s fitted with a period-correct 252-prefix 2. 25 engine with Weber carburettor conversion
Odometer reading 69000m, although as always this should be taken with a pinch of salt.
The last owner, on acquiring it as a proper barn find in 2018 (we’re told it had been off the road since 1997), sent it to a Land Rover specialist with a brief to sympathetically restore it, not to concours standard, but to make it a fantastically presentable and useable example, and I think he achieved this as it both looks and drives absolutely superbly. For example, the black centre dash panel, oil bath air filter etc have been left with 50+ years of patina, rather than being freshly painted etc.
We have bills for, but not limited to, full brake overhaul/ replacement, electrical overhaul, new seat boxes and floors front and rear, new fuel tank, and in May 2021 it was treated to a reconditioned rear differential, new rear halfshafts, a recored radiator and a full service including replacement of all the underside fluids.
In 2019 was sent to the well-regarded GT Paintworks in Lymington for the body and paintwork, and in my opinion they’ve done a superb job – it’s at least as good as it would have been when it rolled out of Solihull in 1967.
I doubt you’ll find a nicer one without spending far more.
On our own website, you’ll find our usual 2 videos: a walkaround appraisal, and driving impressions.
