Ordered new in 1959 by a Doctor residing in the dry state of Tennesee who kept the car for 32 years. In 1990 he treated the car to a fully documented refesh with model speciaists "Corvettes Born Again" in California. Since then the car covered a futher 20, 000 miles in 26 years having been loved & cherished. This is american styling at its best with egg crate front grile, rear lights recessed into the wings & exhausts exitiing in the rear bumper outriders.
The engine has recently been fully rebuilt at 91, 050 miles & has covered a scant 700 running in miles since then. This is documented with assorted large invoices. As a result the car is in superb mechanical condition & wants for nothing. This is a matching numbers car with its original engine, transmission & chassis.
The car is finished in Crown Sapphire blue with cream side insert. & matching blue hard top. It is equipped with a 4 speed Hurst shifter & dual 4 barrel carburettors with the 283 Cid engine outputting around 270hp. This was a luxury & advanced car for its time bearing in mind the M1 motorway had just opened & another car was being launched called the Mini.
The interior is in beautiful order with blue seats & dash board matching the exterior colour scheme. Even the original Wonderbar Radio is in situ & working. 4 new tyres have just been fitted with a 5th brand new spare located under the boot floor.
The car comes with a thick history file of service & restoration invoices. The elderly current onwer approaching 80 years old had power steering fitted to the car making it a real pleasure to manouever in tight spaces at low speeds. It is a great modifiaction for making the car every day driveable but could also be removed it authenticity is the brief. The car is now to be sold along with a series 2 E type due to the advancing age & ill health of the current owner
The car overall is close to concours & would do well at any show. It is a delight to drive being fast, handling well & making all the right noises. There is of course an immaculate soft top which may be deployed when the removable hard top is not in place.
