Hello and welcome to the sale of this rather lovely 1937 Austin 14 Goodwood lwb. This is a car with great history believed to be a west sussex police car as can be seen by the police spec. The car supplied by Ruggs of Lewes and is still a numbers matching example with just 87k on the clock and 3 former keepers.
Mechanically the car has undergone alot of work, been told the engine has been rebuilt which does seem right as the straight 6 is so smooth, the clutch is also extremely good, the gearbox is a 4 speed with synchro on the top 3 gears, it's a very nice box to use, brakes and steering are also good on the car, it does have the adjustable steering wheel which is nice. This old beast does drive very well especially with the big powerful engine. Electrically almost everything works as it should, horn doesn't work.
Inside again alot has been spent on it as can be seen, it's all in nice condition and the materials that have been used are right for the car. It will need a headliner but luckily all the frame is there.
Bodywork has a beautiful natural patina that I love on this car, think it would be so nice to keep it well preserved in such a condition! The underbody is all in very straight and solid condition.
The car is of a condition where its almost ready to use, it just needs a few little niggly bits sorted such as a water leak where the top hose is, dynamo re fitting, front seats need to be bolted down, bonnet catches fitting, the running board on the ns of the car I think is off a swb but its made of wood so could probably have a extension made and then a few other little bits and bobs. Probably a couple of weekends tinkering in all honesty. Comes with loads of spare parts and bits to finish it in the boot.
