A Morgan Plus 8 is not a car for everyone. The combination of vintage charm combined with a very powerful engine seems just as irresistibly appealing to some people as it is scarring to others. And as Top Gear so poetically put it: “A Morgan is as fine a British tradition as cold showers and rods”. In the late 1960s, placing a V8 engine in front of Morgan’s traditional roadster chassis seemed crazy. The newly acquired and light Rover (Buick) 3500cc V8 was an obvious choice to use in the small sportscar, and the simple trick done in 1968 resulted in the fastest British accelerating car in production.
This car has been in the same family ownership since 2005, the car is well known in the Danish Morgan club and has been cared for with an extensive service history. The color is – of course one might say – British Racing Green and the interior is with well patinated blood red leather.
After having served the former owner reliably during 15 years – with several long distance trips – the time had come for something more comfortable than the uncompromising Morgan could offer. Once you are behind the steering wheel in the cockpit with the wind in your hair and listen to the rumbling sound of the subtle V8 engine revving up through the gears, everything is fine. Being true to its British heritage, this car is RHD.
This Plus 8 is exceptionally well maintained – most recently from Morgan DK – and comes with full weather gear including hood, side windows and tonneau cover, all in superb condition as the car. Of course an extra externally mounted suitcase is included. Find a country B-road with nice soft bends and enjoy life in a classic British roadster. Get out and drive.
