We are delighted to have in stock one of the most original Saab 900 Turbo's in the UK. This 4 door sedan version is the full pressure turbo (B202L engine) which produces 160 bhp.
This particular car was supplied new to Japan in July 1992. The transmission is the 3 speed Borg Warner automatic unit. It is finished in Nocturne Blue with dark grey Bridge of weir leather trim. The very high specification includes ABS, Central Locking, Alloy Wheels, leather steering wheel, daytime running lights, electric windows front & rear, electric sunroof, electric aerial & mirrors, rear boot spoiler.
The condition is amazing, due to it having never been exposed to salty roads. Unlike UK examples this car has not seen 30+ British winters, therefore the door bottoms, boot floor, bonnet, tunnels etc are all in original superb order. The paintwork is all original apart from the bonnet which we had painted due to lacquer peel. In 2020 the headlining and dashboard were both replaced. The dashboard is totally crack free and has a tailored removable fabric cover to protect it. All our preparation to date has respected the cars originality and no modifications have been made. We have replaced tyres, several exhaust sections, fuel pump & relay, ABS accumulator and sensors, ball joints, headlamp reflectors, plugs & leads along with general servicing and replacement of all fluids. The majority of work has been carried out by a local Saab specialist.
We acquired this car in late 2017. It was sourced via our Japanese agent and has full service & inspection history from Japan starting with its first service in 1992 and finishing at 41150 miles (11 entries in total). It is currently on 78000 kilometers which equates to just 48500 miles. This will be increasing slightly as I use it during the warmer months. The history file includes all Japanese paperwork such as shipping documents, export certificate, Japanese inspection report and invoices for all work we have had carried out.
Over the last 4 years I have really enjoyed using this car myself. It was used as a basis for a Saab 900 article on the dyler. com automotive website. Last September it won the award for 'best 90's car' at a classic car show near Rhyl, the judges being impressed by its originality and uniqueness.
The current MOT is until April 2023 with no advisories, and another service has just been carried out with our local Saab specialist.
To drive this 900 is a real delight with strong and effortless mid range performance.
I grew up around 99's, 900's and 9000's (my parents both being Architects..) and have had a soft spot for Saab ever since. My personal view of the classic Saab market is there is still a lot of room for growth in values and quality restorations in the future, especially the hard top cars as the market does appear to be well supplied presently by the convertible versions. Appeal will no doubt be assisted by the cult Oscar winning 'Drive My Car' Japanese movie which heavily features a classic 900.
In summary this an original low mileage un-restored full pressure turbo, not a mis-described 'S' version. It is not a barn find, project, fixer upper or badly 'restored' example either. It is a 900 that can be used and enjoyed straight away that would be a great longer term ownership proposition.
