Austin A35 registration 496 AAU was first registered on 27th August 1957. 3 previous owners.
The main history is from her 2nd owner in Poole and in 2011 an MOT was issued with an Odometer reading 83, 823 miles. Various photos with Dorset Austin Club verification signatures confirming original number plates accompanied by DVLA signatories, indicates she was not in use for a considerable time if not many years. It appears the engine had an overhaul at this time with receipts for piston sets and screw in oil filter conversion kit.
Various works at 85, 000 miles by her 3rd owner including a reconditioned smooth case gearbox, new clutch/ pressure plate, thrust bearing and gearbox mountings. Engine mountings also replaced and receipts for replacing the rear brake liners. I have maintained the car myself and used a local garage owner whom specialises in classics. She has been serviced on a regular basis with the essential greasing of nipples underneath. In my ownership, I have receipts and have replaced the fuel pump, electrical components such as distributor cap, points, rotor arm, HT leads, Spark plugs, new battery and terminals and reconditioned the c39 Dynamo in March 2021. I have also replaced the fan belt, rear bump stops and the washer bottle electric pump. At 88, 900 miles I replaced the head gasket which may have been caused by a faulty thermostat which has also been replaced. The cylinder head has been skimmed professionally and the valves removed and decoked and lapped in. The valve stem seals also replaced. Oil and filter service and new red coolant installed. I have also recommissioned the interior heater with new parts so she is now nice and toasty! Current mileage is 89, 300.
On driving around, she brings so many smiles and turned heads and certainly gets such a lot of attention for such a small car. She is very nippy with her 948cc engine and SU carb and extremely economical. I have also just installed a USB point via an auto electrician and positioned subtlety below the dash to make her more tech ready.
I have various original owners servicing manuals to help the new owner keep her going for years to come and enjoy her as much as I have. Although MOT exempt, I have carried out a test to satisfy any new buyer.
