Description
Supplied new from Varneys Garage, Jersey, Channel Islands, this is a 1969 Austin Mini 1000 Super DeLuxe finished in Snowberry White with a black interior. The car was owned by the same family until the year 2000 when it was purchased by the second owner, a friend of the original family who had subsequently moved to the West Midlands. After a few years of light use, he carried out a full restoration assisted by a colleague who worked for British Leyland and had specialist knowledge of Minis.
The car was stripped to a bare shell and any panel with any defect was replaced. Extensive rust proofing was carried out prior to the car being resprayed in its original colour of Snowberry white.
The front subframe was shot blasted, then powder coated, the rear subframe was replaced with a new one. In mechanical terms, the engine & gearbox were rebuilt, any worn parts were replaced. The cylinder head was gas flowed and fitted with hardened valve seats. Electronic ignition was also fitted.
This is a matching numbers car & has a British Motor Heritage Certificate. Also included are many invoices for the parts fitted and the original buff log book, plus old MOT certificates dating back to 1985 and also several photographs taken during the restoration. We purchased the car 3 years ago from a specialist Classic Mini Dealer & it has always been garaged & never driven in wet weather.
The car runs & drives perfectly, showing good oil pressure. Since owning the vehicle, we have taken part in several Mini events as part of our local owners club. Every time we drive it it puts a smile on our face & has attracted many positive comments. We will be sad to see it go, but getting in & out is becoming a struggle.
