1947 Mtchless G80 500 cc Single Cylinder With 1937 Swallow Model 8 Sports Touring Side Car , A delightfully original combination and I am sure the Matchless and Swallow have been together for many years . Charming condition with the Patina which could not be replicated . It has though benefited from being very well maintained having a complete engine rebuild in 2014 by Neil Fulcher of Kickstart Classic, a well known AMC specialist. This cost £988 (receipt available with list of works done). With additional Magneto rebuild and a Dynamo strip and check carried out cost £350. Both items have behaved faultlessly despite long lay-off periods. It also had a new Amal 289 carb from AMOC spares scheme for £244 at this time. The clutch has also been rebuilt with push rod, bearings and springs. the plates were in good order but were cleaned up. The clutch is light and progressive with no slipping under load. 400 Miles has been covered since this mechanical work has been carried out . During this time, it has had 4 oil changes including 50/ 50 flushing oil twice (very brief static runs) and two complete engine oil changes. A new oil filter was fitted after the engine rebuild and the oil tank was thoroughly cleaned before the engine was refitted.
