Description

1998 BMW E36 M3 Evo Coupe – Cosmos Black

Key information:

136, 500 miles

Fresh 12 months MOT on car in July

Ful-Service History, see photos.

The car has been mine for around 1 year. I bought as a bit of a project alongside my ongoing E36 328 project as a light restoration and improvement. I’ve had a few of these so I know my way around them so I took it on as a classic that needed some love. It hasn’t missed a beat since I’ve owned it and I’ve spent some money getting it how I wanted it. Unfortunately I have to be sensible and sell the car as I’ve just started the process of securing a new home and apparently 2 E36s is unnecessary? (yeah right)
----------------
The chassis is good. Having had rotten E36s I know what to expect but first and foremost this one is in good nick. Rear arches are rust free, as is most of what I can see. The Jacking points are common to go and these have a few patches but nothing to be overly alarmed about.
----------------
The car has full service history based on mileage. It was off the road for around 3 years prior to me buying it so it’s only covered around 2, 000 miles in the last 10 years. It hasn’t failed an MOT once in its history. I have a heavy folder of 200+ receipts and invoices.
-----------------------
When I secured the car it was an SMG automatic transmission which was on it's last legs. I have converted the car to manual retaining the original 6-speed gearbox, but with the addition of a third pedal and direct mounted shifter.
----------------------
The car has had a list of upgrades to suspension, gearbox, exhaust and engine so it’s not original and it’s a bit of a fast road example. All modifications are reversible but it’s currently set up just right for someone like me who wants the car to drive, rather than store.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten some bits but this should cover the bulk of it. The car isn’t factory but there’s been thousands spent on upgrades. The engine is very healthy. I haven’t put a drop of oil in it since I’ve had it whereas my 328 needs a few top-ups every couple of months. Vanos is good, power output was around 20BHP over factory when I had it tuned. Diff ratio seems to help things along nicely too whilst retaining drivability on the motorway.

OBC is working perfectly, as are most things (lecci mirrors, factory winter pack works etc) air con works

The car has just had some work carried out to improve the overall condition. The roof was professionally resprayed to a high standard as can be seen. The bonnet was replaced to rectify some rust bubbling on the previous. It would benefit from a paint still (can have sorted for the right offer)

The bad bits

They’ve all got them. This car has a couple of niggles.

Both front and rear bumpers have a few holes from having had additional side skirts fitted. Not overly noticeable, but if you'd like it perfect it would be nice to remedy.

Wheels could do with a refirb.

Drivers side door lock actuator broken. Has to be opened manually with a key. Cheap fix..

Window motors are currently working but have been temperamental. Occasionally get stuck closed.

I reserve the right to end the auction early if the car sells before the end.

Please drop me a message on here if you'd like to enquire / offer. I'll be monitoring my messages. Thanks
