HERE is a 1966 MG Midget Mark II with all the early sports car goodies lost on later models such as chrome strips all over the place, proper sports car seats, banjo-style steering wheel, 1098cc twin carb unit, big bumpers and fold away hood.
The Mark II still looks every inch the true Brit 2-seater sports car today and this example is a little gem. Goes like the clappers and is a pre delight on the road. Very good body and underneath with only some minor, to be expected, paint imperfections here and there. I always think they look so much better with the hood removed and stowed in the boot as opposed to the Mark III which came out later in 1966 with the fold down hood.
Anyway, there we are. One 1966 Midget gem!
My classic cars are motoring antiques. Please do not confuse them with your one-year-old Range Rover. This car, for example, is 56-years-old and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. These are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. The majority of them go out as they came in, and I continue to enjoy finding more - a skill which is becoming increasingly difficult as many of you will be aware. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply.
