Description
This very early and rare Series 2 Land Rover is an amazing survivor and I see them as the Holy Grail of Series 2's!
Registered in Kent on 8th October 1958 as 648 DKR which it still wears today.
The reg number is transferable and valuable but I think it should stay as part of the Land Rovers history.
I have the original buff log book here with only one owner showing.
The up to date V5 registration document shows a further 2 owners from new!
Chassis number the details below makes this a Home Market 88" RHD 2 litre petrol.
They only built 1701 of these with the running gear from the Series 1 while they got the new 2. 25 petrol engine ready. Approximately 70 are known about at present.
Few survive with the original engine in place which this one has no the details below.
Off the road for many years probably since 1992 when it was last taxed.
The bodywork is superb and original and I would leave it as is.
The chassis is rusty and it would be quicker to replace than repair!
The bulkhead is good up top but will need the usual footwell replacement.
The original engine fire up well and sounds nice.
Many correct original features incl wiper motors, early front valance, correct instrument warning lights, original gearbox etc.
It will drive for loading purposes.
It is without doubt one of the most correct and unmolested examples I have seen.
This will make a superb restoration project of a very rare early Series 2.
