Land Rover Series 2 88” Soft Top 2. 25 Petrol
Very Original example, we previously sold this vehicle 7 years ago. 1961 Model, Build started in factory 3rd July 1961 and despatched out 12th July 1961. First registered for road use 19th July 1961. Supplied new to W Holloway’s & Sons Limited, Worcester. The original dealer plate still remains on the bulkhead today.
There is an original bill of sale in the file and the Land Rover was sold in October 1964 when 3 years old for £425. 00
We have on offer a truly remarkable vehicle. Very original example. Showing 10, 200 Miles on the clock but it has been round the clock once so is more like 110, 000 Miles but this is all verified by the mots. Not bad for a 64 year old vehicle.
Recent work has been done in house by ourselves. This included diff oil seals, prop shaft UJ, shock absorber bushes, 2 front leaf springs, U bolts, bolts, new rear spring bushes, front mat set. 2 new front dumb irons. Full engine service. New tyres all round.
The bodywork is all original and you can see from the pictures its evenly worn in the way that only steady use over a long period can do.
The canvas hood is a brand new replacement. Which would benefit from shrinking in the rain. 4 new 6. 00 x 16 tyres have just been fitted.
The Land Rover is in one of the most classic colour combinations bronze green with matching body colour wheels. A majority or the original paint remains, the tailgate is off colour.
The bodywork is good with the exception of a very few dents and scraps. Which adds to the character of the vehicle.
The interior has grey vinyl seats. The chassis is now all good and requires no repairs.
The load area is exceptionally clean and doesn't show any sights of heavy use. A matching pair of rear bench seats can be fitted if required.
One of the best original engine bays we have seen on a Series 2, extremely clean with original stickers still in place. The petrol engine runs very well with plenty of power. It looks like the Solex carb has recently been refurbished.
It is apparent that this is a vehicle that has been maintained and covered low mileage it runs as quiet and smooth as any Series Land Rover that we have ever had. It really is a credit to the previous owners work and maintenance over the years that the vehicle is still present in the such great usable condition. Lots of invoices and old mots, tax discs come with the vehicle. It has a very extensive history file which is nice to see.
A joy to drive and such fun. Four wheel drive and low range engage, as they should. The gears change up and down as they should it has a very quiet gearbox which is a good sign of its light use over the years. It will be supplied fully serviced including engine, oil filter, main gearbox, transfer box, diffs and the swivels. The vehicle comes with the registration number HFO 750.
Almost all Series Land Rovers we have had drip a little oil, this is an exception though no drips of oil to speak of even after standing for days in the same place. The steering is as it should be and the vehicle doesn't wonder on the road like some series vehicles do.
This is a very honest Series Land Rover. You will have to go a long way to find a better vehicle.
Anything on this Land Rover that required attention has been done it is now faultless.
