THIS is a 1964 MG Midget Mark II and therefore comes with the tried and tested 1098cc twin carb unit. A bonny little thing in mid-green, there is a great deal of true Brit sports car about her. Really sound underneath and a lovely driver aided by a rasping stainless steel exhaust. The previous owner bought her six years ago when she had just four former keepers to her name. Prior to his purchase, she had been dry stored for 18 years immediately after receiving new floors, sills, wings, rear spring hangers, brake rebuild, new hood and more. I don't imagine she looks any different today. Personally, I would paint those new sills in green to match the rest of the car which would transform its looks. They have not been "blacked up", it's just that they were clearly fitted and just left as they were.
Seats were re-trimmed at the same time and are the correct bucket seats for the model. Yes, there are some paint imperfections but this is a great price for an up and running, sought after Mark II with removeable hood! She also comes with a black hard top.
My classic cars are motoring antiques. Please do not confuse them with your one-year-old Range Rover. This car, for example, is 58-years-old and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. These are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. I am not a garage, nor am I a showroom. I do not subject them to rigorous tests and inspections. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply. The majority of these ancient motors will need degrees of restoration or re-commissioning. They are not intended to be everyday cars; they are aimed at the enthusiast, the classic car lover and the diy motor mechanic and body man. They are hobby cars; there to be tinkered with and enjoyed. Please accept them as being in their own context as context is all.
