This lovely Mercedes 300CE Coupe automatic, has just undergone a major mechanical restoration with no expense spared.
Just look at what has been replaced using only brand new parts : Rear sub-frame removed, dismantled & overhauled replacing all the bushes & mountings. The eight rear control arms renewed, rear differential stripped and fitted new bearings, seals and oil. Rear hub bearings and seals replaced, anti-roll bar bushes, shock absorbers, drive shafts, brake back plates, handbrake shoes, cables, brake calipers, brake discs, pads, brake pipes metal & flexible were all renewed.
The same attention to detail was completed on the front suspension including new control arms, shock absorbers, top mountings, track rod ends, steering damper, brake back plates, brake calipers, discs & pads, wheel bearings, seals, brake pipes metal & flexible hoses.
The wheels have been professionally refurbished with new center caps and 4 brand new tyres fitted. Due to the extensive rebuild the car was professionally checked on a computerised 4 wheel alignment system, adjustments were completed with full printout (passed).
Whilst the front and rear suspensions were off the car, great attention was given to the underside floor-pan and any corrosion repaired with new metal. The old underseal was removed back to metal and the underbody, underwings and sills under the body skirts were treated to a red oxide primer, black undercoat primer and finally finished in a body schutz coating.
The petrol pipes from front to back and the brake pipes were all renewed as were the fuel pump filter and mountings.
The auto transmission, differential & engine were drained of the old fluids and these were flushed. All filters were replaced before renewing with the proper oils. A new V Belt & timing chain tensioner and brand new battery were all fitted at the same time.
The interior leather and exterior bodywork of this car are in lovely condition and everything works as it should, including both seat belt presenters, sun roof, electric aeriel, radio, etc.
Having had such a major rebuild the car drives like a dream and a recent 100 road test confirmed that all was working perfectly.
When presented for its MOT Test it passed with no advisories whatsoever.
There are lots of receipts, manuals and paperwork, looking at this it appears the car has been in the same family ownership since 1996 and the current mileage is correct.
