Toyota Celica GT – 60k Miles/ Manual/ One Driver
The Celica was produced by Toyota between 1970 & 2006 and came in seven incarnations with a variety of drivetrains and body options. All models are superbly engineered and today outstanding examples represent excellent value for money and an utterly engaging drive.
In 1995 Ken Howlett had to order a new company car. After careful consideration, he was an accountant, Ken decided to order a Toyota Celica GT in white with manual transmission supplied by Asta Grosvenor (Addlestone).
The Celica was used mainly for pleasure – the alpine toll pass from 1996 is still in the windscreen – and after three years the car was purchased by Ken from the lease company. Over the next 25 years the Celica was used as a high days & holidays car and always maintained to the highest standard and rarely saw rain.

In 2017 Mr Howlett had a minor accident in his beloved Celica on the Horsham North Ring Road. A Micra pulled into the outside lane and into the n/ s front wing of the Toyota. The damage was minor, but Ken insisted that he did not want the factory wing replaced with a pattern part and agreed to have the car designated as an uneconomical repair so that he could keep the car and arrange for repairs to his own exacting standard.
There are pictures of the damaged wing in the history file and the total cost of the minor repair was a parsimonious £1, 172. 88 for wing repair, paint, labour etc.
Milestone Classics were recently contacted by Ken’s widow with the clear instruction that we must find a caring new custodian for his pride and joy. We were delighted to oblige – it is exactly the standard of car that we buy and our customers expect.
Without question this is one of the best Celica’s in the UK and exactly the standard of car that we take great pride in marketing. The car could be used as everyday transport (although in our opinion this would be sacrilege) or enjoyed sparingly while values rise.
