The basis car is an MG YA from 1947. It obviously has the front independent suspension and the steering rack and pinion, that doen’t exist on a pre-war car, but gives this model a much more comfort and precision in direction, that makes great difference with pre-war cars.
Building and assembly of the car, has been made from original châssis, front and rear ends, and of course, engine, gearbox and rear end, from the donnor car. The whole parts have been dismantled, then cleaned, sandblasted, primed and repainted with solid special paint for iron. Then reassembled and fitted with news parts for this, as new bolts and nuts, new gaskets and seals, news washers, alloy, iron or copper, and hoses, belt, and news electric full wiring.
All the hydraulic braking system is new : cooper lines, flexible hoses, master-cylinder, all the wheel cylinders, all the shoes, and little hardware.
The 5 (with spare) tyres are brand new, with only 1500 km, on Blockley 5, 50/ 6, 00 x 16, with new tubes, and inner rim bands, on the sandblasted, primed and painted two tones original wheels, balanced.
The original XPAG 1250 is matching with the châssis. It’s been professionnaly checked, and a new camshaft has been fitted, the main and rod bearing checked and controled, all the gaskets and seals changed, valves checked and adjusted. Oil pump and waterpump with its calorstat are brand new. New intake to fit a second carburator, has been fitted. Exhaust line has been professionnaly hand made with stainless steel, to be manualy adjusted to the car. Ignition comes with an electronic kit if wanted. (new coil, condensator , points and sparking plugs) Original 4 speeds and reverse gearbox, works perfect as, the clutch, whose friction disc is ok.
Rear end, sand blasted, primed and repainted, saw its half shafts checked and controled, seal spi and paper changed with new ones, also its air vent. The 4 shock absorbers has been rebuild with new seals and refilled with fresh W20 special oil. All track road end, oil seal, bearing, and seals are brand new. As front and rear bushings.
Alloy bodyshell, is from Compound Curvatures, assembled and fitted by a professionnal. Side arches and rear arch, are manually riveted with hammer and bouterolle as old fashion way. Floor is exotic woodply 19 mm thickness, waterproof treated. Front bonnet with is four pannels are manually fitted and adjusted with piano hinges full stainless steel, and manually riveted. Central rear viewer body is alloy handcrafted, and riveted to the bodyshell.
Alloy with real leather trimcovered dashboard, has full instrumentation, with necessary interruptors for lights, horn, starter and ignition.
The two bucket seats are fully recovered with high quality leather trim.
Fuel tank is iron made and treated with Restom kit for the inside.
This car is working very well, pulls strong, and very reliable, with simple and cheap maintenance. As all MG cars, all parts are easy to find, and low price.
