Citroen 2CV6 Dolly.

Family Owned from day one.

Regarded as one of the classic designs of the post war-era. Simple but enduring, these iconic French cars had a production run of 42 years, outlasting many of its rivals, with the basic design remaining near enough the same, an increase in engine output perhaps being the biggest difference between the first and last examples.
First shown to the public at the 1948 Paris Mondial de L' Automobile, and production coming to a close in July 1990, this particular example was first registered on the 12th of September 1990, making it one of the very last manufactured. Supplied new by Barnes Garage ( The Citroen main agent) of St Helier, Jersey. It is regarded as the last example sold new on the Channel Islands. A local farmer took delivery and the car was used sparingly in the subsequent decades, with the first service at under a thousand miles in 1995, carried out by the supplying dealer......... A change of ownership in 2003 when the original owners daughter inherited the car, it has remained in her custodianship ever since, making it the first time offered for sale in 33 years.
The car is still in its original condition, untouched and quite remarkable, and as they say, it can only be original once........ In very recent times, the car has had a complete service, electronic ignition and treated to a brand new set of the correct Michelin tyres, which I had done very much as a precautionary act. This work was carried out by a local country garage, as the proprietor is a very long term 2CV and Ami owner, and was quite simply to be trusted. Naturally all the parts are retained, so everything could at any time be replaced back to original. This includes the original Michelin tyres as fitted by the factory which I have kept!The 2CV also had its first UK mainland MOT in December which it passed without any advisories.
When new, the original owner had the supplying dealer fit seat covers, which have remained in place and can be seen in the pictures, and having the car completely wax-oiled, which has clearly helped with preservation. The original dealer sticker is still in the rear window, along with the two 'Barnes' Citroen dealer key rings on the sets of original keys. Also supplied with the car is the original handbook, service book, Citroen folder, correspondence with the family who have owned the car from new and all the original Channel Island paperwork. Also all subsequent bills for recent work carried out.
An extremely rare opportunity to own a uniquely low mileage iconic car, as there can't be many left such as this. The 'Dolly' deserves to be preserved and used sparingly, as so many have been driven to within an inch of their lives, and we all know they can go around the world twice whilst held together with a piece of string!
